Importing Departments

Learn how to import your departments into the system

To save time, you can import all departments of your company at once. Moreover, this will allow you to automatically create relationships between the departments.

Download the template to add new departments

In the “People” section, select the “Departments” tab and click the “Import” button.

After that, a modal window titled “Import Departments” will open, where you can download the import template in XLS format. To do this, click the “Download Template” button and save the file to your computer.

Fill out the template with your department data

Add all the necessary information about your departments to the template. After downloading the template, you will see a table with sample data.

The first row contains headers for the columns, which correspond to the fields in the system. Before filling the template with your data, please delete all rows except the first one. To ensure the import function works correctly, please follow the suggested column format.

Department Name – it must be unique; there cannot be two departments with the same name in the project.

Parent Department Name – it must match the name of an existing department; if such a department does not exist, it will be created.

If you leave this field blank, the main department will be assigned as the parent department for this department.

The main department is the root department in the company structure, which is named after the company. The company name was set during the project creation.

All required columns are marked with an asterisk (*).

Allowed file formats: XLS, XLSX. The maximum file size is 5MB. The file can contain a maximum of 1000 rows.

Upload the completed template

To do this, simply drag and drop your file into the drag&drop area. Or click on the drag&drop area, select the file on your computer, and click the “Open” button. After that, click the “Import” button in the modal window.

Once the import is complete, you will receive a notification with the results. You will also receive an email where you can view the import results and any potential errors.
