Learn how to import your employees into the system

To save time, you can import all employees from your database at once. Moreover, this will allow you to automatically create connections between departments, groups, and managers during the employee import.

Download the template to add new employees

In the “People” section, click the “Import” button.

After that, a modal window titled “Import People” will open, where you can download the import template in XLS format. To do this, click the “Download Template” button and save the file to your computer.

Fill out the template with your employee data

Add all the necessary information about your employees to the template. After downloading the template, you will see a table with sample data.

The first row contains headers for the columns, which correspond to the fields in the system. Before filling the template with your data, please delete all rows except the first one. To ensure the import function works correctly, please follow the suggested column format.

Enter the names of the groups you want to add the employee to. An employee can belong to one or more groups. If you need to add the employee to multiple groups, separate the group names with commas (,). The group name in the file must match the name of an existing group in the project; if the group does not exist, it will be created.

If you leave the field blank, the employee will not be added to any group.

The department name to which the employee belongs. An employee can belong to only one department. The department name in the file must match the name of an existing department; if such a department does not exist, it will be created.

If you leave the department field blank, the main department will be assigned as the department for this employee.

The main department is the root department in the company structure, which is named after the company. The company name was set during project creation.

Used to indicate whether the employee is a department head or manager.

Enter “1” if the person is a department manager. Otherwise, leave the field blank.

A number, which can have the value: “1”.

All columns that are mandatory to fill are marked with an asterisk (*).

Allowed file formats: XLS, XLSX. The maximum file size is 5MB. The file can contain a maximum of 1000 rows.

Upload the filled template

To do this, simply drag and drop your file into the drag&drop area. Or click on the drag&drop area, select the file from your computer, and click the “Open” button. After that, click the “Import” button in the modal window.

Once the import is complete, you will receive a message with the results. You will also receive an email where you can view the import results and any possible errors.
